It's coming up on that time of year where an ice-cold beverage is a requirement. And while an ice-cold soft drink or adult beverage of choice will be consumed, I want to incorporate more water into my daily habits. This fruit-infused recipe is one of my favorites to spice up my regular old water.
32 oz of filtered water
7 Strawberries (4oz; I use frozen)
1 lemon sliced
Ice to chill
*Mint (optional)
- Slice the lemons. I find that slices are more aesthetically pleasing to rather than cut into wedges, however, either do the job just fine. If you want a more Strawberry taste, and less acidic, I would recommend removing the peel
- Drop a handful of strawberries into the pitcher
- Fill the pitcher with the filtered water, and let the fruit soak in the filtered water for at least 2 hours, I prefer overnight
- Optional- I like to add mint to add a little extra kick to my infused water. Mint has a lot of benefits
And it's that simple, but for those who are curious why I chose this combo, each ingredient is said to have great health benefits. Water is essential to life and drinking more of it helps flush out toxins, regulate bodily functions, and promotes weight loss just to name a few benefits.
While strawberries are technically a flower and not a fruit (its a part of the rose family), this heart-shaped berry is rich in antioxidants (protects the body from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals), helps boost your immune system, and is packed with vitamin c.
Lastly, peppermint essential oil is said to soothe digestive issues, boost energy, improve mental focus, relieve headaches. Read more about peppermint oil by clicking the link above. Keep in mind, the oil used in this video is FOOD GRADE, do not attempt to use non-food grade oils!
