Wash Day Rountine

Gone are the days of 3-4 hours wash days (unless I'm flat ironing), I simply had to find a better way to spend my precious time. I've been natural long enough and I've refined my routine down to a science. I typically spend about 2 hours tops, which depends on how long I deep condition, and I have a shorter routine that lasts no longer than 1.5 hours, and today was one of those days.

I started out shampooing my hair with Jamaican Mango and & Lime, Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Shampoo.  I split my hair into two sections, a right-side, and a left side. This shampoo gave me a rich lather but was moisturizing. I had a viewer inform me, that she tried this shampoo and it left a film on her hair. While I didn't experience and leftover film with this particular shampoo, I can say that I have experienced said "film". To digress a little, basically, products build-up on the scalp after many days of piling on the edge control, gels, creams etc. So if you are seeing a grey or white like film after you shampoo, get a clarifying shampoo asap! A clarifying shampoo will also help with some dry scalp issues. Apple Cider vinegar also helps as well. With each shampoo, I like to use a scalp massager, to help stimulate growth and ease my dandruff.

Next, I follow-up the shampoo with the Jamaican Mango & Lime, Paraben-Free Moisture Rich Conditioner.  I have a full review on the conditioner here.  Then I head under the hooded dryer for about 20-30 minutes (high heat) with a plastic baggy.  Rinse and follow with a hot oil treatment.

This was my first time using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Alma, this oil was a nice citrus smell and
locked in the moisture. To heat the oil, I warmed some water in a mug, and drop the entire bottle inside the hot water, to warm up the oil. I applied the oil all over my scalp and hair shafts. I went back under the hooded dry for another 15-20 minutes, and typically I rinse if my hair feels too oily. In the case of this oil, the oil seeped into my strands and didn't feel too oily. The oil has so much slip, it worked well as a detangler. See the full quick routine in the video below!
