2018 Christmas Decorating

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...Ah, just love the smell of my two favorite bath and body works winter candles marshmellow fireside and fresh balsam. Both just scream winter. Growing up my family home didn't have a fireplace but we did have a real Christmas tree.  The day after Thanksgiving signified that it was time for my dad to go Christmas tree shopping and for all of us to decorate the tree (mostly my mom, but my brother and I tried to help ha)!

Fast forward many decades later and now it's my tradition to pull out my tree from the attic, light my "fireplace" (I'm using air quotes because I go on youtube and play a fireplace video --No joke it's amazing without the wait or clean up!) and turn on my Christmas classics (Ok Google, play R&B Christmas) and get to decorating.

This year I purchase a new tree 6.5 ft Flocked Pre-lit tree from Walmart, and I have to say this is my best tree yet! Most of the ornaments are from Walmart and Michaels. I purchased the ribbon from Joann's Fabric. I purchased a few new gems this year as well, the carriage, mermaid shell, and ballet slippers. Each of these represents something special. The carriage is an homage to my love for London, a carriage ride fit for a queen. The seashell gives me mermaid vibes and let's be honest I'd rather be at the beach any day of the week. And the ballet slipper is a reminder of my good old dancing days! Once a dancer always a dancer.

In addition to decorating my tree, I decided this year to spice up my bar area (Bar is from Kirkland's). The small spheres in the martini glasses are from Michaels, as well as the sparkly spikes in the wine glass. The ornaments are from the remaining that I didn't use on my tree (Walmart) and the stars of the show, the Nutcrackers  (Pier 1). My brother and his family gave me a beautiful birthday card this year, and I just felt it fit perfectly with the color scheme so I kept it and placed it here.

Last but not least is an easy peasy DIY flocked garland. The one pictured below, I had from my stash last year, however, I purchase another one for my stair railing ($2.38 from Walmart). I created a video to show you how I decorated it as well. You can view both my tree decorating and garland DIY below. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from my home to yours! xoxo B
